Gordon's blast off Glen Perkins ended the Twins' shutout bid and enabled the Royals to maintain their division lead over the Tigers. The 30-year-old's overall numbers (.283 average, 16 homers, 59 RBI, eight stolen bases) wouldn't suggest that he's in the midst of the career-best season, but his 5.6 WAR on the campaign ranks right up there with leading MVP candidates Mike Trout and Giancarlo Stanton.
