What are always-on waivers?
Commissioners can choose to enable the always-on waivers option. This means that free agents are never available on a first-come-first-served basis. They must always be claimed.
Without this option, free agents are available on a first-come-first-served basis after the league's last waiver processing day of the week.
For example, if a league processes waivers on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday:
- With always-on waivers: Free agents will never be available on a first-come-first-served basis
- Without always-on waivers: Free agents will be available on a first-come-first-served basis after Sunday waivers process (at 8 AM ET).
